ESPN “Monday Night Football” announcer Mike Tirico was caught up in a sexual harassment scandal himself. He was reportedly caught stalking a female back in the 1990’s and making sexual advances towards other females. In a book published in 2000, “ESPN: An Uncensored History”, writer Mike Freeman documented Tirico’s problems. Tirico was able to get past it and maintain a thriving career as a sports analyst for ESPN.
The Mike Tirico stalking story was broke by Deadspin in 2006, the same website that broke the Brett Favre scandal Thursday about Jenn Sterger, a former New York Jets sideline reporter, who claims that Favre stalked her and sent him text messages and pictures of his penis during the time they were both employed by the organization. Deadspin included voice mails and lewd photos they say were sent by Favre to the cellphone of former Jets sideline reporter Jenn Sterger.
Football fans are wondering if Favre will be able to get past this bit of controversy and strive on the football field with the addition of Randy Moss to the Vikings offense.
