Randy Moss to play for the San Francisco 49ers

By Gabe Panini

Seven time NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver, Randy Moss, has agreed to a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers franchise after the veteran showed he was still capable of being competitive during a Monday workout with 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.

The workout between Moss and Harbaugh was reported by CSNBayArea’s Matt Maiocco. According to Maiocco, the former NFL quarterback, turned head coach, threw a couple of passes to Randy Moss for 15 minutes, and it was enough evaluation for Harbaugh and the 49ers to sign Moss to a one-year deal to help out the 49ers passing game.

At 35, Randy Moss is tied with Terrell Owens for second most receiving touch down catches, and only 44 TD’s behind legendary 49er receiver Jerry Rice.

Adding a 13-year veteran like Moss will help take some pressure off of tight-end Vernon Davis, who was the 49ers main receiver last season — the go to go for QB Alex Smith, due to mediocre receivers.

The 49ers were so close to the Super Bowl but lost to the Eli Manning lead New York Giants, who eventually beat the New England Patriots a second time in Super Bowl XLVI. In 2008, Moss played on an undefeated 19-0 New England Patriots team when they met the New York Giants at Super Bowl XLII and lost by a score of 14-17.

Along with Moss, the 49ers are exploring other wide receivers to sign from free agency and in the draft to help revitalize their passing game.
