Winner of $336 million Powerball jackpot is 81-year-old woman

81-year-old, Louise White, of Newport, Rhode Island won last months huge Powerball lottery jackpot of $336.4 million.

White, was able to contain her excitement and keep a low and private profile after finding out she won the jackpot on February 11, 2012, she kept the winning ticket in her Bible after she realized she had won.

White is a regular lottery player and bought the winning ticket at a Stop & Shop market in Newport where she went to by rainbow sherbert ice cream, and the ticket is being claimed in the Rainbow Sherbert Trust which she named after the ice cream she went to buy that day.

The Powerball lottery is played in 42 states, including the U.S. Virgin Islands. Experts say the probability of matching all five numbers and the Powerball number is around 1 in 175 million.

According to officials, the $336.4 million jackpot was the 3rd biggest in Powerball history and the biggest ever won in Rhode Island. Louise White opted to take the lump sum payment of $210 million, the highest lump sum payment ever for Powerball.

The largest lottery jackpot in United States history was a $390 million Mega Millions prize won in March 2007.
