The Latin heartthrob is off the market and is best known not only for his music but for his long term relationship with the former Tennis star and beauty, Anna Kournikova, the couple first met on the set of his video “Escape” and have been dating for 11 straight years.
In an interview with Parade magazine, the 36-year-old singer shared his view when the topic of marriage came up, “I’ve never really thought marriage would make a difference. Maybe it’s because I come from divorced parents, but I don’t think you love someone more because of a piece of paper. And nowadays, it’s not taboo to have kids and not be married. What makes a difference is that you’re a good parent, period.” So it seems the trauma of his parents divorcing is the reason for Enrique’s cold feet. The couple doesn’t even have any kids together which seems to be rare for a couple that has been together for so long.
Enrique called Anna Kournikova his “wife” during Russian concerts, sparking the rumor that they finally wed, but the truth is Enrique has never asked for her hand in marriage and only said that because he felt the audience would understand the term better than if he said here is “my gal.”
Enrique does have a point with all the divorces going around just because a couple isn’t married doesn’t mean they do not love one another.
