Ways to stay healthy in the Winter time

Winter is here and the chilling weather during the holiday season has most people staying indoors and not going on their morning job because of the cold.

This is why many people put on those excess pounds during this time of the year because the weather is not really ideal for exercise and workouts, we’d much rather stay in bed or cozy up near a fireplace while watching a movie.

Don’t let the cold air stop you from staying in shape. Here are a few tips for staying fit and keeping off the pounds during the Holidays. If the cold has you in bed and not outside jogging you can opt to get a gym membership and run on an indoor track, treadmill or elliptical machine. You can also buy cold weather base layer’s that are tight fitting and keep your body warm so even in cold weather you can go for your morning jog or work out.

Also try to work out with dumbbells, weights and other aerobic workouts and circuit routines, it’s always good to mix up your routine to prevent a plateau and make things more challenging for your muscles to help burn fat and build more lean muscle.

Try to avoid taken in extra servings of food during the winter, opt for healthy smaller meals and taking nutrient rich fruits and vegetables to help prevent any cold or flu.

Remember, if the weather is too cold and snowing don’t work out outside rather workout indoors.
