Former MLB star Lenny Dykstra sentenced to 3 years in state prison

Former baseball star for the New York Mets, Lenny Dykstra, who also bragged about being a financial guru was sentenced to 3 years in state prison on Monday.

Los Angeles County Judge Cynthia Ulfig denied a last minute effort to change Dykstra’s no contest plea so he could defend the charges in court. Dykstra had pleaded no contest to grand theft auto and filing false financial statements to steal or lease new cars using another persons documents.

The judge said Dykstra showed no remorse for the for the victims he took the information from and was a criminal, something which Dykstra didn’t agree with, claiming he is “No criminal.”

In January 2011, Dykstra, his accountant Robert Hymers, and their friend Christopher Gavanis, tried to lease expensive cars from local card dealerships by providing fraudulent info, like claiming credit through a fake business, they used a man’s named and info without his authorization or knowledge and claimed he was their co-signer for the automobiles. Lenny Dykstra first wanted a brand new Mercedez Benz s-550, but and a new Cadillac, but the con men didn’t get approved and had to settle for a a New Ford Flex, Ford Mustang, and Lincoln.
